Towards a New Vision for Derby City Centre – ‘Ambition’

We will soon be seeking your feedback and ideas for a new vision for Derby City Centre.

Our City Centre, like many others, is facing unprecedented challenges and we need a clear, bold vision to tackle these head on.

The vision will focus on longer-term ideas and interventions that will transform the City Centre and secure its future as a vibrant place that people can feel proud of and want to visit. It will send out a message that we recognise that there are challenges, but that we ‘have a plan’ for dealing with them and that the actions we are taking are part of a coordinated suite of interventions.

Throughout 2021 we have been talking to stakeholders to understand exactly what the issues are, and we are now using this information to create a document called 'Ambition' which will set out our initial thoughts on the issues; identify some ideas for achieving transformational change and ask how ambitious we should be in this.

In Spring/Summer 2022 we will be launching a 12 week conversation based around the ‘Ambition’ document, where you can give your ideas and feedback. The feedback you give will help shape the next stage of the process which will be the finalised ‘Vision’ document which will be published in 2023.

If you would like to be kept informed of the conversation launch date or be added to the newsletter mailing list, please contact Andrew or Richard at planningpolicy@derby.gov.uk
