Housing accounts for 24% of carbon emissions in Derby. Making homes more energy efficient reduces these emissions and helps to lower energy bills.
Background
In September and October we asked a series of questions to help us understand residents knowledge level of several aspects of home energy efficiency. We want to thank the 93 respondents that took part.
Headlines from the first survey include:
66.7% were not aware of the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating for their home
80.6% of respondents said they were not aware of any grants to improve the energy efficiency of their home.
40.9% of respondents had already installed some DIY energy efficiency measures such as draught excluders and LED lighting.
From your feedback we are looking at how we raise awareness and understanding of EPC ratings and funding schemes. The information will help us with our planning and inform how we work alongside partner organisations.
Information about EPCs and grant funding is available on the Council website.
Survey
We would now like to ask residents about specific home energy efficiency measures such as low carbon heating and insulation and their likelihood of installing these measures in their homes. Responses to the survey will help to understand levels of demand for these types of improvements and inform future planning.
Please submit your response by Friday 10 January 2025.
