Climate change presents the biggest threat to life on Earth in modern times. It is unequivocal that human influence has warmed the atmosphere, ocean and land. There is now a climate emergency that we must address.

The goal is for Derby’s carbon emissions to be net zero by 2035. Net zero means not adding to the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Achieving it means reducing emissions as much as possible, as well as balancing out any that remain by removing an equivalent amount.

You can take part by

  • taking our short poll on the climate change action plan (below)
  • You can find out more about climate change actions by visiting our MiDerby pages.

We've set out to explore some issues that we think need to be addressed and to identify potential ways of addressing them. You can also find out more on our external Let's Talk Climate pages.

  • Our Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) shows our actions to become net zero by 2035. This means that by 2035, we will have reduced our greenhouse gas emissions and have steps in place to remove any remaining emissions from the atmosphere.

Our current CCAP was approved in June 2022 and we are reporting every three months (quarterly) on our progress.

We want to know if you've read our CCAP and which team you work in.

Please submit your response by 31 July.
