Derby City Centre: Public Realm Strategy
Derby City Council have commissioned an external consultant to produce a Public Realm Strategy (PRS) for Derby City Centre. This important piece of work will develop a comprehensive vision for the future of the city centre’s streets and public spaces, representing a transformative changing to the image, character, and life of the city centre.
Through a process of explorative analysing and collaborative engagement, we have developed a deep understanding for the city’s current form, strengths, challenges, gaps, and opportunities for improving the public spaces and places we all use every day. Building on this depth of understanding and knowledge gained from a wide variety of voices, we have identified a series of potential thematic routes through the city, alongside priority locations for delivering initial catalyst projects.
We would now like to bring these initial proposals for transformative change to you, the people of Derby, to benefit from your thoughts, and ask for your input in developing the designs and bringing added richness to these emerging proposals. Our ambition is to create a city centre for all, fostering inclusivity, safety, joy, and active participation and vibrant life, celebrating the character and community of Derby.
We welcome your feedback on these proposals. The following survey is intended to capture your thoughts, with the results helping to refine the final strategy. Before starting the survey, please take a moment to look at our overarching vision for Derby’s public realm improvement strategy. This vision has helped us identify Priority Locations across the city centre. In the following questions, we would like to hear your views on the proposed actions for each area, and how they could shape the future of Derby’s public spaces.
The feedback survey is open until midnight on Wednesday 25th February. If you require a copy of the survey in another format such as hard copy, please contact us at LetsTalkDerby@derby,gov.uk
