To help the Council expand the wraparound childcare programme to be able to meet current and future demand, we'd like to hear from parents/carers of primary school children, but also from those with children aged 0 to 5 years who may wish to access before or after school care in the future.
What is Wraparound Childcare?
Wraparound childcare refers to childcare that wraps around the conventional school day and is often referred to as before or after school clubs. Wraparound care takes place on site at the school or in a linked provision close by. It can be run by the school or through a partner in the private or voluntary sector. This does not include school run activities or clubs that do not meet the childcare needs of working parents.
Parents should expect to see an expansion in the availability of wraparound childcare from April 2025.
By understanding where, when and how often childcare is needed before and after the school day, we can design our programme to better support parents/carers and children.
We estimate that this survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. We have asked participants for their postcode and the name of the school their children attend. This is so that we can assess demand and future demand at a local level.
If you (or anyone you know) needs this consultation in an alternative format in order to have your say, for example, Easy Read, large text, audio, or a community language, please email wap@derby.gov.uk and we will work with you to meet your needs.
